Evolve heat from a body

I would like to specify that a certain amount of heat is evolved from a body over a specified period in my 2D convection model - what is the proper way to do this?

Assume that:
- total heat loss: Q (J, >0)
- body volume: V(m^3)
- period of time: t1 < t < t2

type below in the subdomain>heat source,
-(Q/V)/(t2-t1)*(t>t1)*(t<t2)

OR
Assume that:
- total heat loss: Q (J, >0)
- boundary surface: A (m^2)
- period of time: t1 < t < t2

type below in the boundary condition>inward heat flux
-(Q/A)/(t2-t1)*(t>t1)*(t<t2)

add additional boundary condition by defining h and T_inf.
Assume that: - total heat loss: Q (J, >0) - body volume: V(m^3) - period of time: t1 < t < t2 type below in the subdomain>heat source, -(Q/V)/(t2-t1)*(t>t1)*(t0) - boundary surface: A (m^2) - period of time: t1 < t < t2 type below in the boundary condition>inward heat flux -(Q/A)/(t2-t1)*(t>t1)*(t
