How to use COMSOL to simulate the on-off characteristics of a semiconductor chip?

How does a semiconductor chip such as an IGBT or MOSFET simulate the electrothermal performance of a semiconductor power module? My current approach is to build a flat cube, set it to be made of silicon, and then modify the electrical conductivity of the silicon to simulate the on state of the IGBT chip, but the results are not ideal, so how do I simulate a semiconductor chip?
